Randy Wentworth’s experience was derived from 37 years of distribution and
transmission work within New England’s largest electric utility, National Grid.
Starting
as an overhead line worker, he soon entered the field engineering group of the
Western District. He later held various positions including General
Supervisor of Field Engineering, General Supervisor of Overhead, and Area Supervisor of
seevral regions. After transferring into the Southeast District, he
became their Operations Planner. The Central District soon
called upon him to manage the overhead and underground departments within the very
complex City of Worcester, MA infrastructure along with the surrounding 40 cities and town.
Randy then advanced to the Manager of Operations of that District and
ultimately the Director of Operations of the combined Central and Western Districts (Bay
State West). As Director, Randy was responsible for the engineering, substation,
overhead, and underground functions which encompassed 101 substations, 3,300 circuit
miles of overhead distribution, 180 miles of backyard right-of-way construction, and an
extensive underground inner city system along with a
large downtown network system. This large division encountered several emergency
storm and outage restorations, and Randy coordinated these restoration efforts in a
concise and timely manner resulting in the appreciation of local community leaders.
As Director of Operations, Randall was called upon to lead and manage various cost
savings initiatives, construction techniques, and business opportunities. His Labor
knowledge is extensive, and he participated in the 2003 Labor negotiations with the
UWUA, BUW, and IBEW unions. He was the chairperson for a large team made up of
line workers and their managers from all of New England who discussed and reviewed
overhead equipment, work practices, and procedures. The results of that group are now
a permanent part of National Grid’s overhead safety procedures and rules.
While at EIG, Randy assists clients in overseeing various
construction projects, work practice initiatives, and project events.
Randy has a four year School of Industrial Management certificate from Worcester
Polytechnic Institute, a BSG degree from University of Massachusetts, an AST degree
from Springfield Technical Institute, and an AS degree from Greenfield Community
College. |
