Andres J. Molina, PE - Consulting Engineer

Andres Molina possesses over 20 years of professional experience in the electric equipment and energy delivery industries, including development, design, construction, commissioning and operation of electrical distribution and transmission substation facilities.  Andres has worked for a transformer manufacturing / repair company in South America and also one of the largest electric utilities in the Northeastern US.  These experiences have given Andres a solid background in the design and engineering, project management, and company management functions in the electric equipment and energy delivery industries.

As an early career assignment, Andres worked for 3 years at Transformadores de Colombia, located in Colombia, South America.  While there, he managed a team of 40 technicians who worked on the factory construction and repair of power transformers; and the field repair of power transformers, circuit breakers, regulators and miscellaneous substation equipment rated up to a 115kV voltage level.

Following this, Andres worked 18 years for National Grid US in the areas of distribution and transmission substation engineering, project management and company management.  Andres began by working in the Distribution Engineering Departments in the North Andover, Malden and Worcester Districts of Massachusetts Electric Company – a subsidiary of National Grid US.  He was later promoted to the Substation Engineering Group which at the time serviced all National Grid US operating subsidiaries.  He soon was assigned project management responsibilities for large projects such as the $14M Pratts Junction 230/115/69/13.8kV Substation reconstruction and automation, the new $15M Millbury #5 115/69kV gas insulated substation and the new $50M Ward Hill 345/115kV gas insulated substation.

Andres was later promoted to Manager Of Substation Engineering And Design at National Grid US Service Company where he supervised the activities of 73 engineers and designers working on over 300 substation projects representing a capital improvement budget of approximately $100M.

Andres holds a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Science Degree specializing in power engineering from Northeastern University, and a Master Of Science In Business Administration Degree specializing in project management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  Andres is a Registered Professional Engineer and is a member of the Institute Of Electrical And Electronics Engineers.
