John's experience encompasses the entire range of development, design, construction, commissioning, and operation of electrical generation, transmission, and distribution systems. He has worked in the operations and engineering groups of a large electric utility, as a project engineer and manager in a regional consulting firm, and President and founder of JMEnergy, Inc., a precursor to EIG. John spent six years at the New England Electric System (NEES) Companies (now National Grid USA), where he engineered and managed projects ranging from distribution systems to large transmission substations. He also coordinated storm restoration efforts, supervised off-hour restoration crews, and participated in developing a computer-based outage tracking system. Following NEES, John joined PLM, Inc., a regional power systems engineering and consulting firm. During his seven years at PLM, John was a Senior and Principal Engineer, providing engineering and project management services to a range of projects, including major transmission line and substation additions, expert testimony for facilities siting and permitting, utility interface management, and due diligence work in support of asset acquisitions. In 1999, John formed JMEnergy, Inc., where he further developed his skills in the deregulated electric world. His work at JMEnergy grew into formation of EIG in October of 2000, where his recent efforts include evaluating potential fossil-fueled and renewable generating plant locations; developing and managing generator interconnections with host utilities; and developing and managing design and interconnection of merchant transmisison facilities. He is also involved in analyzing and developing strategies for suppliers and developers looking to enter new market areas, due diligence analysis and strategy for facility acquisition, evaluating new transmission technologies and equipment, and supporting ongoing operations of projects he assisted during development and construction. John holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Engineering in Electric Power Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in several states and maintains a current record with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). He is a member of the National Association Of Professional Engineers (NSPE), a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and curently chairs the NYISO Transmission Planning Advisory Subcommittee.
