Todd G. Kopoyan, PE - Principal Engineer

Todd has over nine years of experience in the electric utility and energy delivery business.   The majority of this experience was with the former New England Electric System (NEES) Companies, now National Grid USA.   After a period of working in the distribution engineering function, Todd focused on transmission and distribution substation engineering, design, and project management.

While in distribution engineering, Todd's work included performing fault protection and relay coordination studies, short circuit analyses, and voltage support studies.  He also participated in a study of underground distribution system reliability.

As a substation project engineer, Todd has managed many multi-million dollar projects involving the development, design, installation and upgrade of transmission and distribution substations.  His work included preparation of project scope documentation, cost estimates, equipment specifications, and coordinating efforts of construction and design resources.  Some of his more notable projects included the fast-track installation of a new metal-clad distribution substation and a system-wide upgrade of all substation supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment to enable interfacing with a new energy management system.

After NEES and before joining EIG, Todd spent several years managing the power division of a company that specializes in providing temporary power, sound, and lighting for various entertainment and sporting events.  Some of these events included presidential speeches, outdoor concerts and festivals, professional sporting events, utility cutover projects, and trade shows.

Todd is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering - concentrating in Power Engineering - from Northeastern University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College.  He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
