Gregory P. Klabon, PE - Principal Engineer

Greg Klabon's experience encompasses the entire range of development, design, construction, commissioning, and operation of electrical transmission and distribution systems. He has held positions in several of the engineering groups of one of the largest electric utilities in New England and as a project engineer in a regional consulting firm specializing in electric power engineering. Greg has experience with overhead conductor, underground cable, substation equipment, and power transformer applications, ratings and calculations; witnessing transformer factory tests; directing and conducting area planning studies; performing load flow and short circuit analyses; designing underground manhole, duct, and cable systems; providing technical support for electric utility operating departments; and facilities permitting. These experiences give Greg a solid background in the consulting, engineering, and project management areas of the electric power industry.

Greg spent ten years at the New England Electric System (NEES) Companies, where he engineered and managed projects for electrical facilities ranging in scope from distribution system additions to the commissioning of a 2000 MW HVDC converter terminal. He also coordinated numerous storm restoration efforts and participated in the development of specifications for power transformers and high voltage circuit breakers.

Thereafter, Greg joined PLM, Inc., a regional power systems engineering and consulting firm. During his two years at PLM, Greg was a Principal Engineer, providing design and engineering services to a wide range of projects including system planning studies, overhead and underground distribution line design and construction, and the development of distribution standards.

Greg recently joined EIG where he continues to utilize his knowledge of power systems in evaluating potential generating plant locations nationwide, developing and coordinating transmission interconnections with host utilities, and acting as a general high voltage specialist for generation plant developers. Work at NEES, PLM, Inc., and now with EIG has developed Greg's skills in the deregulated electric utility world.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree from Gannon University and a Master of Engineering Degree in Electric Power from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and its Power Engineering Society.
