Richard “Dick” Holmes’ experience encompasses work in the areas of development, construction, commissioning, and operation of electrical transmission and distribution systems. He has held several positions in one of the largest electric utilities in New England and as a Field Contract Coordinator in a regional construction firm specializing in the installation of fiber optic and electrical power installations. Dick has experience with overhead conductor, underground cable, substation equipment, and power transformer applications and witnessing transformer factory tests, as well as constructing underground manhole, duct, and cable systems, providing emergency storm support for electric utility operating departments, field investigation for facilities permitting, along with testifying as an expert witness for the Town of Hanover NH on pole construction. This extensive experience gives Dick a solid background in the consulting, engineering, and project management areas of the electric power industry. Dick spent thirty six years at the New England Electric System (NEES) Companies, where he engineered and managed projects for electrical facilities ranging in scope from distribution system additions to the expansion of substation facilities. He also helped coordinate numerous storm restoration efforts throughout New England and New York. Thereafter, Dick joined Tangibl, LLC, a regional power systems engineering and consulting firm. During his three years at Tangibl, Dick was a Field Contract Coordinator, providing supervisory services to a wide range of projects including substation expansion, overhead and underground distribution line construction, and emergency storm restitution. Thereafter, he took a position through ProUnlimited, where he worked on rebuilding a 69kv transmission line. Dick’s responsibility was to develop and secure permission to access all structures within the transmission corridor both on public and private property. Dick then worked for Maverick Construction Corp. as a Safety Manager for the installation of fiber optic cable in the electrical space of utility poles. The project was for the expansion of a large cellular phone company in the Boston area. Dick recently joined EIG where he continues to utilize his knowledge of power systems in the operation and construction of electrical systems. Dick holds an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute in Boston. He is a master electrician, licensed in New Hampshire.
