Masheed has had twenty-eight years of experience in various areas of the electric utility business prior to joining EIG. She is an accomplished senior executive having operational and business leadership in the electric utility business within a multi-national, publicly traded company. Masheed has a broad range of highly-visible corporate experience including P&L and service delivery responsibility for transmission business in the United States. She also has extensive experience working with Federal and State government and regulatory officials at the highest level. She joined New England Electric System (NEES) in 1982 as a transmission planning engineer performing engineering planning studies for electric transmission and distribution. During this time, she was responsible for design, review and system analysis for a 2000 MW HVDC interconnection between Canada and Massachusetts. She also has experience in relay protection schemes for power systems. She then progressed from Principal Engineer to Vice President responsible for oversight of regulatory relations and policy development, commercial contracts, and transmission planning. After the merger of National Grid and NEES in 2000, she continued as Vice President of regulation and policy directing regulatory affairs and strategic policy development for the US transmission business. She negotiated the agreements creating the New England Regional Transmission Organization and obtained FERC approval. She was also elected to represent investor owned transmission utilities at the national level in negotiations with the Generator sector to define interconnection and operating rules, leading to the final rule by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. In 2004 she was appointed to Chief Operating Officer, GridAmerica LLC (National Grid subsidiary). In 2005, Masheed was appointed as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, US Transmission responsible for all aspects of US transmission business including profitability, growth, strategic policy, regulatory affairs, asset management, transmission construction and control room functions. Masheed holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from Northeastern University and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a registered Professional Engineer. Masheed served on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association. In addition, she served as the first Chair person on the New England Transmission Owners Committee as well as representing her company on various committees including the New York Transmission Owners Executive Committee, New England Power Pool / NYISO / ISO-NE Stakeholder Committees, and North American Reliability Council (NERC). |
